CONTRIBUTIONS PAGE
As with my first website, www.liberalexcellence.weebly.com, I would like to include a contributions page at this site. It is a great way to help build more character excellence as well as a more helpful society. The reader can think of it as an honor system of payment for the information at this site.
What do I mean? It's simple. A large part of what John Dewey's ideas of ethical excellence celebrates are what I call character excellence -- building a set of strong, healthy, and intelligently constructive habit-arts. Such habits help keep building a safer and more democratic world for everyone, in short, the public good. Like a carpenter's tools, such habits are useful for acting excellently in many different situations. As you'll see as you read on, the art of practicing intelligent kinds of charity and helpfulness is very important to liberals everywhere, and should play a much larger part in our public schools. Many people have some extra money, and using it to help those who're trying to help themselves might be the best definition of character and ethical excellence itself.
For example, 2 of Dewey's favorite organizations were the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). In fact, he helped found both of them in the early 1920s. So sending, say, a $10 donation to either one would be a good way to both pay me for my work, and also build your own character excellence. And many other worthwhile orgs. are listed below. Feel free to contribute to any of them.
